Joy in Service
The bell rings and the cafeteria workers grab their aprons and begin work. One person starts off by wiping all the tables, sweeping and washing floors, refilling napkin holders, and straightening chairs. While they are busy, another person sprays all the large dishes and sets them aside for another person to scrub clean.
The person spraying/rinsing also hand washes all the bowls, plates, and silverware and puts them through the dishwasher to make sure they are super clean! When finished, they wash the counter and clean out the sink. Meanwhile the person washing the dishes remains hard at work scrubbing dishes clean and drying and putting them away. Another person empties garbage, cleans the cafeteria bathroom, and does other odd jobs.
When everyone finishes their assigned job, Mrs. Bol, the cook, puts each person to work washing fruits and vegetables, peeling potatoes, making food, and other tasks that must be done.
Cafe work is hard, but it can be lots of fun if you have a good attitude. It certainly follows Fountainview's motto: "Building Character."
